This is Clancy, the adorable corgi. He sadly has passed away, but hopefully I did him justice.
Acrylic Painting
Ginger and Jasper Acrylic Painting
These Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were so cute! They were also in two different photos and then placed in the same one. This one was a bit easier because the angles that they were at were very close to begin with.
In painting this my approach was to work from dark to light, really allowing the light values to pop.
Fatso & Shorty Acrylic Painting
These two were another cute pair that was fun to paint. They presented a bit of a challenge, as they were in different photos, that were taken from slightly different angles. I usually like to stick quite close to the reference material so the end painting is representative to the pet itself. in this case, we had a similar enough photo, I was able to compensate the angles and photoshop together a reference that looked accurate.
The background on this one was also a new adventure, and let me tell you, leaves are hard! Getting the correct balance of detail and blur to represent depth is quite difficult.
Looking back at 2018!

The Dog Pack
On Small Business Saturday I announced my newest product, The Dog Pack!
I have wanted to do this project for at least 4 years, and I finally got around to getting it done. Originally I was going to work all digitally to complete it, but found that hand-painting the dogs was a better way to get the look I desired. Each dog was painted on paper in acrylic and then scanned into the computer to work into the design.
Breeds were chosen mostly based on popularity and assigned with what seemed to feel right! Sometimes this was based on size, or my personal interactions with that breed of dog.
The design was a tossup between doing something that looked “pop-art” style or vintage. In the end I felt that the vintage style just visually looked better so I went with that.
The Dog Pack includes:

Argus and Mini Argus Acrylic Painting
I have gotten really behind in uploading some of the commissions that I have done this year! This is an 8x10 acrylic painting of Argus and Mini Argus the German Shepard. Argus has a mini stuffed animal version of himself!
It was really fun and a new challenge to paint in the wood floor in this one.
