Cat Painting

May 15, 2017 in Oil Painting, Process, Painting

This is a quick painting that I did in one sitting, watching it you can get an idea of how I generally start a painting. I tend to start with the eyes then expand outwards, working areas with similar colors together. I like to vary brush stroke sizes and direction. Sometimes I will squint or take of my glasses to be able to see the shapes and not the details. Usually I like to start with a toned canvas, however on this one I didn't due to the lighter background. In the final stages I work in more of the small details that are particular to this cat.

I LOVE doing pet portraits, so please contact me if you are interested!
